Secure USB Stick / External Drive

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 05/21/2009 - 15:33

I have an external harddisk and an usb stick. I use them sometimes with pc and sometimes with laptop. Operation systems are not same always, also sometimes windows xp, sometimes vista or linux ubuntu etc. I dont have admin-root like access to install new software there always. I want nobody else get access to my external-disk and usb drive. I know it is possible with TrueCrypt but I cant install truecrypt everywhere and I dont want either. And I am not sure if truecrypt works with all operation-systems and file-systems like fat32, ntfs, rsfs, ext3 etc... Any suggestions?

CuteFTP or FTP Client lists just 1998 / 2000 files

If your ftp-software does not display more than 1998 file names (2000 with symbolic links), you must change config file of Pure-FTP and restart ftpd. Use a ssh-client , recommend Putty.

[ssh] pico -w /etc/pure-ftpd.conf

# 'ls' recursion limits. The first argument is the maximum number of
# files to be displayed. The second one is the max subdirectories depth

LimitRecursion 2000 8

# Are anonymous users allowed to create new directories ?

AnonymousCanCreateDirs no

Change this to something like LimitRecursion 20000 20 etc.

Hello I am a beginner and want to learn all web trends. I see that in last time ajax getting very popular and I tried to learn it by trying myself. But it is very complicated for me because of too much code and I dont know where to start how to exercise at home.

Is there a step-by-step tutorial which shows why we need ajax and how to start with ajax? It would be perfect if there would some small jobs to try with ajax.

This content has been modified by another user, changes cannot be saved.

I get this error when I try to edit a node under Drupal 6x: "This content has been modified by another user, changes cannot be saved.". It happens just sometimes and it does not matter how many times I re-send changed text. But it works when I click on "edit" tab and make changes again. Nobody else has access, also there is not an editor-conflict. any idea why?
